Dressing for Your Best Portraits
- Solid colors are best. Avoid busy patterns and bright colors; they will draw attention away from your face.
- Darker clothing tends to minimize body size.
- Clothing with simple lines look most professional. Suit and tie are recommended for men.
- Long sleeves are recommended as sleeveless tops and short sleeves will make your arms look larger.
- A vee or scooped neck is best if your neck is short and your face is full.
- A turtleneck or high-necked garment is more flattering if your neck is longer and your face is slender.
- Take time to check your hair to make sure it looks neat and natural. This is not the time to try out a new hairstyle.
- Men, we recommend getting your hair cut about a week before the portrait sitting.
